Here we adopt various approaches towards social awareness for the purpose of documentation,
preservation of ancient heritage archeological architectures. Currently we are working on
photographic documentation of terracotta temples and mosques in Birbhum.
Artist Mukul De published a book titled ‘Birbhum Terracotta’ in 1959 (?) on his long passion
and hard work. We have photographically documented the terracotta works of Birbhum’s
terracotta temples and mosques. We are doing this to observe the condition of those
structures or to see how many are left.
Bunkti Rath is famous for its fine carvings on copper plates. We members of Birbhum Artisani
visited on Rath Yatra and on that day we did photographic documentation of the copper
engravings. Later we worked on low relief clay modeling, drawing inspired by this work.
